My studio's journey began 25 years ago when I learned how to code HTML from reading HTML 4.0 for Dummies. In less than a year, I was hired to be Creative Director of Genesis Studios and helped develop websites for the Navy, Darden Business School, and IT Firms in the Charlottesville, VA area. We were on the cutting edge of web development and early to the SEO and Web 2.0 interactions.
When the first Dot-Com bubble burst happened, I found myself looking for new opportunities and reconnected to my high-school passion for photography. I left my web design job and began assisting an architectural photographer named Philip Beaurline.
Working for Beaurline Photography, I learned the ins and outs of commercial architectural photography. I learned how to use a view camera and shoot film. I learned how to drum-scan color transparencies and retouch them in Photoshop. I also learned how to make beautiful prints by working in a color managed environment.
When I went on my own, I moved to Portland, OR and quickly began shooting for magazines like Portland Monthly, Oregon Home, Better Homes & Gardens, and Dwell. I started shooting for firms like DLR Group, Jesssica Helgerson Interior Design, Mahlum Architects. Eventually, I began shooting large commercial jobs for brands like Rejuvenation, Hunter Douglas, and Oreck.
In 2020, LINCOLN BARBOUR PHOTO began it's transition to LINCOLN BARBOUR STUDIO when we started adding video production to our photography services.
The future is still be determined, but if the last 25 years has show me anything, it's not technology or gimmicks that keep a business going. It's building great relationships by showing up and delivering on what you promise.
I promise to be here for you and look forward to meeting you.
